The American Craft Expo

By far our most outstanding show last year was the American Craft Exposition in Evanston,Il, and are pleased to showing there again this year. A benefit for breast and ovarian cancer, the show run by the Auxiliary of NorthShore University HealthSystem, is in it's 25th year. The volunteers that run the show do a superb job, and the clientele enthusiastically support the artists and designers, who are some of the best in the country. The preview event is Thursday August 27th and the show is open to the public August 28th-30th. I will be live blogging from the show, so check back, and you can become a fan of the event on facebook.

Below are some of the designs in shearling Toshiki and I have been working on for the show

Ceramics on the East End

It was kind of a grey summer day, so Toshiki and I decided to roam around a bit on the east end of Long Island. We had gotten a notice that 5 potters were having open studios,in the East Hampton area, so we stopped by three of them. Our favorite was Eve Behar ceramics studio, pix below of Eve, and then one with some other customers.

Toshiki had been searching for some large bowls to serve Japanese noodles in, and he found these which fit right in our kitchen, and will probable hold tomatoes for awhile.(This pix doesn't really do justice to the subtle coloration of the bowls, unfortunately)
We also headed up to The Sag Harbor Gallery to see the work of a ceramic artist I admire, Matt Nolen. Unfortunately, the gallery was closed on a sunday afternoon, so call ahead if you want to go.
