Jury photos

It is that time of year again when we need to make terrific work, photograph it, and send the photos off to various show committees to present to their juries, and hopefully catch their eye. We market most of our work thru high end craft shows on the east coast,in Chicago, and on occassion, a gallery trunk show here or there.
Above is a napalan merino shearling coat, trimmed in toscana shearling on the edge of the hood. We have used Mondrian inspired color pieced lambskin tapes as finishing details.

mad museum, and more

Yesterday I needed to deliver a shearling coat to a client who lives on 57th st. near Columbus Circle. I had been meaning to get up to that neighborhood, to visit The Museum of Arts and Design, or MAD. Formerly the American Craft Museum located on 53rd St, they moved to 2 Columbus Circle. Watch this video from the NY times for the interesting history of this building, including the renovation.

Above, a building in the area, not sure what it is. Anyone know?

What a pleasant surprise. Loved the space.
Especially loved the exhibition,
"Second Lives: Remixing the Ordinary" (thru April 19th)
I had many favorites, but one piece that stood out was
(needs to be seen in person, photo on her site doesn't capture the beauty)

Also got to take in a blustery winter walk in Central Park.

Still Winter

It is still very cold here in New York, and I will be doing shows in March where you can purchase a lightweight Spanish Merino Jacket, and begin to use it this spring until you put it away and are ready for fall and winter again.

Here is Sonia in a red/black version with colorblock lambskin trim.
Whimsical, stylish, and luxurious to wear, to appeal to all your sensibilities!

made to measure, email for more info

In the works

While we are still making orders (I am NOT complaining), we also need to keep in mind that we need to start photographing for jury slides. The heavy duty jury applications for the major shows start coming up starting March 1st.
This determines where we will get to exhibit and sell our work in the fall.
So that means making some outstanding work, which will catch the jurors eye as they click thru 1000 artists.
I think this coat on the left will be such a piece when it is completed, and photographed properly.
I hope we have time to finish up a few more.

Malibu's first shearling

Girls just can't believe how cozy and elegant they feel when they get their first shearling, especially with the cold winter we have had here in the north east. And you can tell by the smile on her face, Malibu is enjoying her walk, finally this winter,  in Brookfield, Ct.
